Paatu Cassette

Sound & surround

Control your AV receiver

Switch your Sony receiver’s sound modes from the app.

If your Sony receiver is on your home network, Paatu Cassette can switch its sound modes for you, so you don’t need the remote.

Connect the receiver

  1. Make sure the receiver and your Mac are on the same network.
  2. Open the Sound page (the sliders icon in the player bar) and scroll to Receiver.
  3. Click Find Receiver. After a few seconds your receiver is listed with its model and address. Click Connect.
  4. If macOS asks to find devices on your local network, click Allow.
  5. Or click Enter Address…, type the receiver’s IP address (for example 192.168.1.20, shown in its network settings) and click Connect.

One-tap modes

  • Receiver Dolby Surround: the app sends stereo, and the receiver’s Dolby upmixer fills your speakers.
  • Receiver DTS Neural:X: the same with the receiver’s DTS upmixer.
  • Paatu Cassette 5.1: the app’s own 5.1 upmix, with the receiver set to play it as it is. Needs a 6-channel output.

Below them, every sound mode your receiver offers is listed, grouped as Dolby & DTS, Direct & Stereo and Other modes. Click one to switch.

Standby and power

When the receiver is in standby, click Turn On. For this to work, turn on Network Standby on the receiver (usually Setup › Network Settings), so it answers while it’s off.

To disconnect, click Forget. If your receiver isn’t found, see Receiver not found.
