Privacy policy

The short version

Paatu Cassette doesn’t have accounts and doesn’t collect your personal data. Your music, playlists, ratings and listening history are stored on your Mac and never sent to us.

The app

• Your music files are read from the folders you choose. They are never uploaded. The app only changes a file when you use the tag editor or tag cleanup, and it backs up the original tags first.
• Your library (songs, playlists, ratings, play counts and listening stats) is kept in a database on your Mac, in your user Library folder.
• Internet radio is the only feature that goes online. Searching for stations contacts the community Radio Browser directory (radio-browser.info), and playing a station connects to that station’s own server. Those services see your IP address, as with any website.
• AV receiver control talks to your receiver over your home network only. macOS asks for Local Network permission the first time you use it.
• The app has no analytics, advertising or tracking.

This website

• We use Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights to count page views and measure page speed. They don’t use cookies and don’t identify you personally.
• The download file is served by our file host, which may log your IP address as part of normal operation.
• If you email us, we use your address only to reply to you or to send the update you asked for.
